Olivia App

Project for UX Design Course with Google (Fictional)

Project Overview

The Problem:

The current app is not equitable. Even when you change your language in menu most of information is still in norwegian, many of the fonts are pale and hard to read at times. As well the app doesn't represent the restaurant itself.

The Goal:

Make product as equitable as possible and improve it’s visual aspects so that include restaurant ideology.

Pain Points:

  • Visual Identity

Visually not connected with visual aspects of company.

  • Accessibility

Important information is not visible for visually impaired customers

  • Lingual Accessibility

App is only in Norwegian- non foreigner friendly, even when you change the language in options- hard to find for older people

  • Visual Accessibility

Menu has irrelevant pictograms. Only pizza pictogram is applicable the rest is the same so people with reading impairment won’t be able to use this app

Bjorn

Sven Sigurson

25 yo/ Student / Norwegian

Sven is a fund outgoing norwegian guy who loves good quality Italian food. Svens eyesight is not the best so he often gets irritated when we can’t see clearly that's why he rather order the pizza on the app so he has more time to read everything clearly and take his time without stressing. He loves how each Olivia restaurant reminds him of different regions and towns in Italy. And as much as the restaurant interior and design brings him joy he thinks that the current app is soulless and has nothing to do with the vibe of the restaurants.

Fatima is currently learning norwegian so every app in that language brings her distress but she and her family loves authentic Italian food at Olivia so she wants to be able to buy pizza. She has to be able as well to order glutenfree pizza for her son who is allergic.

Starter Page:

Since it is pizza delivery app the main goal is to fins closest restaurant to save time on delivery. By adding “find my location” we can make this step automated which makes it easier for user to use - of course on the bottom we as well give option of manual search if customer do not want to use “ find my location” option.

We as well try to suggest customer to create an account or log in to exiting thanks to which the view of the app can be more accessible for that particular customer.

Create Account:

Our goal is to make experience unique for each user and make them feel equitable. Thanks to creating account option they will be customise view of the menu that will be tailored especially for them. Language, types of food that they can eat without worrying about allergies or food preferences.

Further on it will make check out much faster.

Impact:

The app will make customer feel more included and make them feel like the product is done with the user as the center of the project not the need to sell product

What I learned:

I’ve learned how accessibility is important in creating a project and how some things you’re think might be accessible are not and you have to always check yourself on your bias.
